Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is undoubtedly the main attraction for any iOS or Mac OS X developer. At last year's WWDC I met some extremely cool fellow developers and I got inspired to make more great apps. So obviously this year's WWDC is an experience me and the other developers here at SHAPE don't want to miss.
Last year tickets were sold out in less than 10 hours and a lot of good developers missed their chance to get a ticket because they were either sleeping, on a plane, needed approval from their boss, etc. when the tickets went on sale. I expect tickets to sell out even faster this year. So to not miss getting tickets we solved the problem the way we solve most problems here at SHAPE -by making an app!
The app works by monitoring twitter for tweets with the keyword 'wwdc' in them and it also looks for changes at the Apple WWDC website. When the conference is announced the amazon server will start sending us push notifications that will activate and alarm sound on our iPhones. The app allows us to work on great apps instead of getting arthritis from hitting ’Refresh’ every fifth second.
